Google Launch AI Chatbot for COVID-19 Info

By Alessandro Botticelli -- April 10, 2020

The Rapid Response Virtual Agent program includes open source templates for companies to add coronavirus content to their own chatbots. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are continuing to take a front-row seat in fighting COVID-19.

Google Cloud has launched an AI chatbot to help organisations respond quickly to customer questions regarding coronavirus, targeting government agencies, healthcare providers, public health organisations, travel companies, financial services firms, and retailers.

The Rapid Response Virtual Agent Program

Google offers Contact Center AI providing 24/7 self-service support on pandemic questions through chatbot or phone. Businesses can integrate COVID-19 content into virtual agents using open-source templates from existing initiatives.

Verily partnered with Google Cloud to develop the Pathfinder virtual agent template for health systems and hospitals, enabling creation of chat or voice bots answering symptom questions and providing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization.

Dialogflow Template

The Contact Center AI Rapid Response Virtual Agent program operates in 23 languages supported by Dialogflow. Google provides a template for rapid Dialogflow agent creation available on GitHub, with documentation for building and deploying virtual agents whether voice or chat-based.

The Bot Forge examined this template and created our own chatbot, continuously updating and improving it daily.
